Abstract
Starting with a short description of the GSOC (German Space Operations Center) and its role
within the wider framework of the research institute DLR, this paper provides a review of the
geostationary telecommunications satellites positioned by the GSOC. The paper then proceeds to
describe the evolution of the operations and management structures and methods which have been
effectively used to accomplish these missions.
