Automation and Simulation in Flight Dynamics Operation

Abstract:
Deutsche Telekom owns and operates three geostationary telecommunication and direct
broadcasting satellites. The Telekom Flight Dynamics Group took charge of the flight
dynamics activities, from DLR in April 1994.  This paper presents our satellite
operational experiences.
Practical examples for automated routine operations with limited workforce as well as
of relocation activities are covered in the presentation.  A computer demonstration of
Kalman Filter and Operation Scheduler automation tools is planned.

Deutsche Telekom aIready offers satellite operational services in remote mode from its
redundant nodes of Usingen Satellite Control Center and Darmstndt Flight Dynamics Center.
Moreover Deutsche Telekom plans to play in the near future a significant operational role
in one of the most advanced MEO telecom systems.
